MAX FACTOR

This is one of the most popular cosmetic brands in the world. Also, my fav. Read how the Max Factor started growing and take a look in their product lists. 

In Hollywood's Golden Age, when it came to make-up only one name was on the lips of the silver screen stars. That name was Mr Max Factor, a visionary make-up artist, wig maker and inventor, Max Factor was known for creating the signature looks of the era’s most famous icons. . In 1916 he started selling eye shadow and eyebrow pencils. This was the first time such products were available outside the movie industry. Four years later he launched a full range of cosmetics, calling it “make-up” – a phrase he coined.

In the 20th century, Mr Max Factor transformed starlets into Hollywood icons. In the 21st century, his iconic glamour statements have been given a modern twist by Pat McGrath, Max Factor's Global Creative Director.

1920-Max Factor invents the word make-up and introduces Society Make-up to the general public; enabling women to emulate the looks of their favourite movie stars.1958-Max Factor unveils the Mascara Wand, the first mascara to be applied with a wand from a tube, rather than a picking up the color from a cake with a brush.1991-Max Factor becomes part of the Procter & Gamble family.2004-One of the world’s most influential makeup artists, Pat McGrath is signed as Max Factor Global Creative Design Director.2009-Max Factor launches what is to become its bestselling mascara, False Lash Effect mascara.

RIMMEL

In 1820, a respected French perfumer who had been trained by the famous Lubin, perfumer to Empress Josephine, the wife of Napoleon I, accepted an invitation to manage a perfumery in London’s prestigious Bond Street. By 1834, the move to London had proved so successful that, together with his son and apprentice Eugene Rimmel, then aged just 14, he opened a perfumery of his own. The House of Rimmel was established.

Rimmel’s extensive range is kept bang up-to-the-minute as it translates the look of London into new shades, products, packaging and advertising. But however creative and fashion-forward, Rimmel products are always easy to use, versatile and accessible, designed to encourage experimentation and self-expression. 

During the 1970s and 1980s the company changed hands several times before it was finally acquired by Coty Inc. in 1996. Rimmel has since gone from strength to strength, bringing its unique London look to more than 40 countries worldwide and establishing itself as Britain’s best-selling cosmetics brand.… And still at the cutting edge!

When it came to finding a face to project the image of Rimmel London, there was really only one possible choice. So, in September 2001, for the first time in its history, Rimmel signed an exclusive, global contract with Britain’s own homegrown supermodel, Kate Moss.
